Makayla James

Makayla is a former member of the Butte Chapter, which she became involved in during her time as a college student. She was drawn to California Youth Connection due to her interest in policy and her passion for creating change within the foster care system.

Throughout her life Makayla has been an active advocate for foster youth in her community. She served as a State Youth Council Ambassador for Glenn County where she played an influential role in the implementation of AB 12. She continued her passion for working with transition age youth by obtaining a bachelor’s degree in social work from Chico State and working with several resource family agencies.

Makayla brings both her personal and work-related foster care experience to CYC, which will allow her to be a supportive and committed Far Northern Regional Coordinator.
