Aleceeya

Aleceeya grew up with her single mother and often experienced times of homelessness and struggle. When she was 6, she spent almost two years in the Utah foster care system moving between countless foster homes and a children’s shelter before being reunited with her mother again. When she was ten, she returned back into the system with her young sister where they were in more foster homes and the same children’s shelter. She also has 4 other biological siblings, most of whom she is still in contact with though they never lived together. She was 12 when her sister and she were both adopted into a family where she is the second oldest out of 20 kids, 18 of which are adopted. She spent two years living in a group home after being adopted and a few years after returning home, she moved out of her family’s home when she was almost 17 to create a healthier life for herself.

After obtaining her associate’s from Utah Valley University, she moved to Washington to finish at Central Washington University and has a BS in Food Science and Nutrition. She is considering attending graduate school after spending some time travelling first. She has two ugly cats and a dog who she loves and a passion for science and animals. When she isn’t studying or bartending, you might find her reading, cooking, drinking boxed wine, going camping with her pup, or avoiding exercise.

She has worked to be a voice and advocate for those in the foster care system or who were adopted and has been privileged to speak as a motivational guest to various groups of youth within in the system. She has an adoptee blog (adopteetree.com) where she aims to educate others and especially be a support for those who desire to break the cycle and statistics and thrive off good instead. The ones who might believe that they are alone or aren’t good enough and could use some strength. She has also returned back to volunteer at the children’s shelter that she lived in to give back for everything they did for her. Additionally, she is an active voice for LGBQT+ rights and animal welfare.
