Devion Jordan

At age 9 Child Protective Services picked Devion up from his third grade class and dropped him off at his grandparent’s home. For the months preceding he slept on his grandparent’s couch in their one bedroom apartment, along with his older sister and two younger brothers. Attending supervised visits with his mother and never seeing his father, until eventually after multiple court hearings his parents released custody of him and he became a ward of the state. Fortunately, his grandparents decided to take him and his siblings into their care and they were granted guardianship. Thanks to the love and care provided by his grandparents, he was able to realize his potentials and take advantage of them. Now he is a sophomore at the University of Washington pursuing a major in Earth and Space Sciences. Currently he is looking for more ways to enhance his educational experience like, for example, joining the International Foster Care Alliance. He is also currently a member of TRiO, and the UW Champions Program, in which he has met and connected with many great people. Outside of school he enjoys being with friends, hiking and being surrounded by nature, playing video games, and watching movies or anime. He also enjoys taking advantage of any opportunity to return home and visit his grandparents and siblings. He is really excited to begin working with IFCA, meeting many more wonderful people and making lasting memories.
